I just heard why Damien Williams opted out this season.

“For me, it was kind of cut, straight, simple, right to it,” said Williams. “I’m dealing with a family matter — my mom was just diagnosed with cancer, and it’s stage IV.”
You have to respect that decision. It will probably cost him a starting position and a possible extension with the chiefs but if he had been forced to stay away from his mom this season he would have probably been unable to live with himself.
The chiefs are two-for-two on their reasons for opting out.
