if hospitalizations were the metric, same thing.

the goal posts shift every other week based on what sounds scariest.

first it was cumulative cases. then it was hotspots. then it was PPE supply. then it was cumulative deaths. then it was rate of testing. then when testing increased and revealed it wasn't as scary as hoped, things shifted back to cases, then back to hotspots, then isolated cases of hospital capacity issues, then... it's a never-ending carousel of SHOCKING HEADLINES and soundbites.
