and appear to be on the other side of the curve regarding new daily cases.

If you go to worldometers.info and look at Arizona, Texas, and Florida daily cases graph, it's on the way down. If you look at Sweden, NYC, Italy, and other spots that have next to no new daily cases, the graphs all look similar.
