very day, our volunteers compile the latest numbers on tests, cases, hospitalizations, and patient outcomes from every US state and territory.

From reading this, they are going to the state websites and using their daily numbers as they report, so they are doing their numbers based on when reported, not when they died, since that data is not available to them.

So it likely varies by state, but since states are closer to the action, I would guess they have a shorter lag time than the CDC before they report it.
