"Data during this period are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction and cause of death."
According to Worldometers, deaths have been on the same decline recently until a recent very slight uptick. Of course with that, you can only really go by the 7 day average and not day to day. Needless to say, the spike in confirmed cases has not translated to a similar spike in deaths. There's likely truth to more testing = more confirmed cases.
