which I'll interpret to mean fascism light or under the facade of being fascist. Fascism derives from nationalistic governments, etc.
What you're describing is more akin to National Socialism (think nazees) where the govt restricts mkt competiveness to the advantage of a few.
To your second paragraph point, isn't that irony of newspapers that espouse their concern for the worker yet treats their own employees poorly. You should talk to some former Post Dispatch employees. Irony.
If the NYT failed under previous owners why won't it fail again? If it's being propped up as propaganda tool wouldn't that be a poor deployment of capital by it's owners?
To your last point production of goods moving away is a macro cycle of the lifespan of all nations. Consumption of goods and cost of goods produced both rise to where production of goods offshore become cheaper due to labor costs and currency strength (if applicable). We did it the Brits, the Brits did it to the French, and it goes so on and so on. Another irony along these lines is the villification of Pat Buchanan in 92 wanting to reduce the US's international trade and revitalize manufacturing vs the Clinton's pushing of NAFTA. Those positions almost 180d some 20 odd years later.
