If the taser wasn’t a deadly weapon when the officers use it on black people, it shouldn’t become a deadly weapon in the criminals hands either. I understand we’ve been conditioned to think that if a criminal has a weapon he has to die, but a taser after it has been discharged is pretty much useless as a weapon. He shot the man in the back. The officer will probably get off and I understand why, you use a weapon you will be killed, I get it. I just think people would rather we change police escalation. They knew he was unarmed and had his address and was willing to walk home. Follow him or give him a ride. And if he was believed to be under the influence, they shouldn’t have had him move the car from the middle of the lot into a parking space. Does everything have to be an arrest? After what happened to a handcuffed George Floyd, why would anyone trust being placed in cuffs, specifically an intoxicated man. By law the officer is justified even with shots to the back because of the weapon. Going forward we would just like some discretion.
