the length of time one is exposed to the virus makes a big difference in just how sick they get. You can have a brief interaction with an infected person and possible get it, but it will most likely be a very mild case (even asymptomatic). Then, you can spend an hour in close proximity to an infected person, and end up deathly ill. A brief interaction with someone at a grocery store won't kill them or you.
But this science is being ignored. It doesn't sound scary enough.
