backup officer. The traffic stop was on I-35 northbound around JC Penney outlet. Her backup was on the outer road and had to go to 87th Street to get onto the northbound on-ramp. When she passed the traffic stop headed south, everything was fine. By the time she arrived at the stop, Deanna had been overpowered and the suspect had driven over her body to flee.
He was not only drunk, he'd been sniffing nitrous burglarized from a dentist's office while at a party.
My wife worked with Deanna, but was off that night. The backup officer was a close friend and Overland Park was so unprepared for the affect of PTSD they brought the backup officer to our apartment a few days later to decompress to my wife.
