In many cases the NBA actually seeks out limited role players who are elite at a particular thing. That is what they are looking for in many cases. An elite shoot blocker, elite rebounder, elite 3 and D guy, etc who are completely limited in all other facets has a much greater chance of making the NBA than an all around good college player.
