He would be ideal as a backup shooting guard, but was overexposed by us playing him out of position and in too large a role.

There is no question he vastly exceeded expectations. He went to JUCO out of high school not because of academic issues but because that was his best playing option available. He was a much better shooter than I anticipated, by a huge margin. And he had considerable grit and wasn't afraid to take big shots.
