The best decision would have been to do nothing. To say sorry to all the athletes playing now, you had the bad luck to lose half a season, and for some, the playoffs, because you were here during a once in history pandemic of horrific proportions. Live with it, get on with the rest of your lives, and for the seniors, good luck in the real world.

Unfortunately, the NCAA didn’t have the courage, or good sense, to do that, to just do nothing.

Now rosters are disrupted not just for 1 year, but for 4 years. Until the 2025 seasons for softball and baseball, 5 recruiting classes will be jammed into rosters meant for 4 recruiting classes. The dysfunction won’t end until the 2025 season. Kids coming to college to play the sport they love will have less opportunities, not more.

Congrats, NCAA. You lived down to my lowest expectations. What a shock.
