until I actually see them against good D1 competition and SEC teams. Blackwell and Frank came in here as highly touted as any players in two decades, except for Sophie. And while both contributed and show great promise for the future, both had significant flaws in their games and went through plenty of growing pains in their freshmen seasons.
Certainly Dembele fills a glaring need on the team. And others here say the competition in the videos was pretty good. I don’t know enough to say how it compares to good D1 teams here. Hopefully she will be able to contribute right away.
So now we have 6 new players next year, the 3 transfers (Williams, Dickson, Dufficy), the two freshmen who signed last year (Kelly, Smith), and Dembele. Seriously, those 6, plus Blackwell and Frank, could well be our top 8 players, and take up nearly all the minutes.
After those 8 players, who is returning that could see any significant playing time?
Green? Troup? Brown? Linthacum? Unless I missed someone that’s all we have. I’d love to see Nadia Green get more playing time in her senior season. But if Dickson, Smith, and Dembele are really good, it’s hard to see how that happens.
Really excited about the possibilities in 20-21, if the 3 freshmen are all ready to contribute (a big if in my book until they prove it) this could be the best chance Pingeton has had to get a top 16 seed and home regional.
