Spot on with your assessment. If your administration doesn't support the program you're dead in the water. It set us back for years.

We can only wonder IF after the 1970 Orange Bowl our administration would have been forward thinking enough we could have been an elite program again throughout the '70's. Would academics have suffered ? I doubt it.
