But most of the country is still rhe backwoods of Kentucky. Defenders of China will tell you it's still a traditional country and they point out that things like "animal markets" have a long history in the country.

The reality is that eating bears, dogs and slaughtering rhinos so you can use their horn to help you stay virile is more evidence of how Third World and traditionally ignorant AF the country mostly still is.

The Chinese love shortcutting everyting. They like to steal technology, they make shoddy products at the lowest cost. There's ample evidence of this in the public domain. It's the type of country which would still be communist but want a "free market" where the government owns and/or controls much of the heavy industry and manufacturing.

I don't think controlling the populace and their version of capitalism is sustainable.
