protection. See this article from ESPN in November (one of the best I have read).

The Hillbilly let Jerry Jones talk him into this. He actually thought the stadium would cost $2 billion to build. It's at $7 billion and counting. He has to pay the relocation fee. He thought the Chargers were going to contribute at least $400 million to the cost; they are going to contribute about $50 million (if that). He has to split like 15 percent of the revenue with the Chargers even though they only pay $1 in rent. St. Louis is going to win it lawsuit, or at the least, get to bring out all the dirty laundry in open court. Win or lose, Kroenke has to indemnify all the other teams for their legal costs, which are staggering already.
We'll see how good a friend Jerry Jones is when Stan asks the league for money to help this boondoggle - and that is the proper term for it. This will be an unmitigated disaster. You keep hearing that "it's more than a football stadium, it's an entertainment complex." I have been where this "entertainment complex" is located on more than 2 dozen occasions. The area is like North St. Louis on steroids. Does anyone honestly think the people who live in Bel Air and Santa Monica are going to come to Inglewood at night to go shopping and eat? And good luck to any outdoor venues. It would be like dining at the old Shea Stadium.
The NFL could not have handled this whole thing worse than it did and the chickens are coming home to roost. I hope St. Louis wins that suit and all the owners who thought they were getting a free ride into LA have to dig deep into their pockets to cover the judgment.
Please God, let it be so. It could not happen to a nicer group of plicks (the Hunts excluded; they seem like decent people).
