I remember an early September Saturday morning Johnny's senior year. I had gotten up to watch cartoons. Mom and dad were getting dressed up like they did back then.

I asked what they were getting dressed up for without realizing it was the home opener for the Tigers. Dad immediately said "we're going to see Johnny Roland, the best football player in America."

That's how much my dad, a coach himself, thought about him.
