Col. Vindman, a Ukrainian by birth inserted himself in the 2016 election meddling scandal after Politico published an investigative piece in Jan., 2017 exposing Ukraine's involvement in the 'black ledger' ruse to ensnare Paul Manifort. Trump desired Ukraine's cooperation investigating the 2016 meddling and this alarmed Vindman, who conspired with DNC operative Chalupa and with CIA analyst Eric Ciaramella to leak private communications of the President. It hasn't been reported definitively, but I suspect both Vindman brothers were caught in a sting related to vetting the Bolton book.
