But at the time we made the decision to appeal, we had no idea if the softball team was even going to make the NCAA tournament as an at large selection.
And we certainly had no idea we would be placed in the Los Angeles regional, facing the best team in the country, who ended up winning the national championship. So to say we had zero expectations of making it out of a regional in 2019 is just nonsensical. We had no idea we were going to be placed in the UCLA regional. There were a number of regionals where we had a decent chance of winning, certainly much higher a chance than “zero”. And I think taking a game off of UCLA validates the notion than in a different regional we certainly could have won and advanced to the super regionals.
Although you sneer at the accomplishment we made by beating UCLA (handily), by saying the Bruins “slacked off” and basically let us win.
Yeah, they slacked off so much that they started consensus POY Garcia on the mound in game 2. UCLA wasn’t taking anything for granted in game 2. Far from slacking off, they played their best players and we whipped them.
