I have mixed feelings about Pingeton. She’s has positives and negatives. If you asked me what is she really outstanding at, I’d have a hard time answering. Not recruiting. Not defense. And I can’t tell what kind of offense she runs at times. She’s steady in a Pinkel like way, runs a clean program, but seems to have hit a wall in terms of how far she can take this program.
She clearly didn’t take advantage of landing Sophie Cunningham and other local talent. Followed that up with several mediocre recruiting classes. Had some bad luck with transfers and injuries, which you can’t always control. Was backed into a corner because of those factors and then was unable to close the deal on transfer players who could have kept the program at the same level, like Mack who is excelling at Ok St.
This year is likely going to be a train wreck of epic proportions, in the context of the steady upward projectory she has given the program, with 4 straight NCAA berths. She absolutely has to get better at recruiting more physical and athletic players to stay relevant even on the outer edges of the SEC and national scene.
