raised with a work ethic you are going to have a growing crime rate.
Our culture is telling people that they have a right to food, clothing, shelter, health care and now we are trying to add college education. Our society should try to assure that every American has access to those things but it is up to the individual to provide the means to buy them.
LBJs Great Society took a huge number of people who were poor but self sufficient and in just a few generations turned them into serfs who are totally dependent on the government for their every need. That is horrendous.
Many in the inner cities today see only two options. They can live off the government dole or they can prey on their neighbors. Both are incredibly sad ways to live. If we want to rebuild poor neighborhoods we first have to rebuild families. One person can not raise a kid as well as two. It does not take a village to raise a child. It takes a mother and a father living and working together to support that kid, teach them values and raise them to respect themselves and others. That kid will likely grow into a well adjusted adult who will also form a strong family and pass that along to their children.
