most who identify as fairly conservative Republicans.
They are first and foremost, authoritarians. They identify with and support military, policy, gvmt forms of authority, "rule of law" type stuff. My suspicion is, they were all in church at an early age.
So while they intellectually despise the absurdity of liberal (current usage) policy and spending, it's nearly impossible for them to challenge existing LAWFUL spending or unconstitutional crap that is now LAW.
Like Spanky here tonight Googling garbage to support the WPA and Executive branch war actions. In his mind...it's fine, because Authority is doing it.
