These 24 states have no professional teams (in the four major sports leagues [NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL], not counting developmental or minor-league teams or MLS): Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas*, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
The following 4 states have one pro franchise (in the same criteria): Nevada**, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah.
That means 22 states have >1 (more than one) pro franchise.
*Kansas could get credit for Kansas City, Missouri. Maybe.
**When the Raiders move to Vegas, Nevada will be on the list of states with >1 pro team.
