Fuller was not allowed to leave campus to recruit his final 3 months as an MU assistant.

Probably enough time has passed, so here is some inside scuttlebutt from that time period:
"It is a sad state of affairs, to be certain. We have turned away a good number of potential players during the last year, and I think the Alden / Anderson integrity ploy has grown old after winning 8 games against D1 competition, which I firmly believe you and I could have accomplished simply rolling the ball on the floor."
"My understanding is that Isabell's is not so much a suspension than that he simply quit the team. Fuller had a heart to heart with him and convinced him he was doing no good for himself by leaving in the middle of the semester and that he would simply end up at a JuCO next year, so he is trying to finish out the semester and maybe play again."
"I know for absolute certain that Danuel House was knocking down our door to transfer here but KA wouldn't take him. He does not want any more transfers."
"Anderson apparently asked Fulford directly, with his job on the line, if Kapita could come here, not smoke weed and never get in any trouble whatsoever. Fulford said it was impossible to make such an assurance, similar as I understand it to what Fuller told him about Danuel House."
"we are apparently not going to take any guy with potential baggage."
