1) Why do you need to hire a search firm? HUH? Can't you just pick up the phone and start making some calls? If you're an AD how in the hell do you not have a plan of who to hire, or who you might want to go after.
I would think for starters agents would start calling you with interest in the job.
2) Not going after Lane Kiffin and or going ALL OUT to add a PR MACHINE head coach who excites fans and the media is a mistake.
Mississippi is NOT a better job than Mizzou not by a long shot. They play LSU - Auburn - Alabama - Texas AM every single year. That job sounds to me anyway like a death spiral. There are TWO D1 programs in the same damn state. The state is SMALL! No major cities in Mississippi, and the good players in your state are raided by Alabama.

How can't the people leading the search explain to Lane Mizzou is centered between two major media markets, tons of D1 talent is home grown, you're the only D1 school, we have brand new facilities, expectations are lower, longer leash to get the program on track, and oh btw the freaking way you don't have to play those four teams every year!!!!!!!!
