Of all the communities that I am a part of, my Sufi community tops the charts. We practice Kirtan and Zikrs with a mix of Hindu and Muslim chants. It takes advantage at root of the vowel-heavy Mid-eastern influences - the vowels in Allah, Allah, Allah, Ish K'Allah, M'ab Allah - carry certain vibrations that put you in an elevated meditative state. Kansas City's group has world class circle leaders. Blessed beyond measure. We tune ourselves to the Divine energies which suffuses all of us. Zikr is an intense Kirtan that can blow you away.
