This is true. But that is also problematic because...

... we have to capitalize when we have the talent and schedule set up in our favor to win the conference and play for that elusive national title.
We had it in 2007, we had it in 2010, we had it in 2013, and 2019.
* In 2007 we went 11-1 and reached #1 and was an eyelash from playing for the national title. Almost did it.
* In 2010 we went 10-2 with a disappointing loss @ Tech (but they were an 8-5 team). Good season. No bad losses. But didn't quite take advantage.
* In 2013 we went 11-1 and an eyelash from playing for the national title. Almost did it. And even more impressive that we did it without our star QB having to miss 4 conference games.
We started those seasons 5-0, 7-0 and 7-0. They were prepared and ready and hungry for a championship those years.
* This year we blew it in week 1 against a Non-P5 team. And did it by being unprepared, unfocused, lacked discipline and didn't make adjustments. That's pretty damning when you go into a huge potential season and blow your load 5 seconds in.
So we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, regain some footing and as soon as the national press takes notice that we are in the hunt again, we blow our load immediately. To an even worse team. An inexcusable loss, to a horrible team, that was on it's 3rd QB in emergency fashion. And that QB couldn't complete a pass either.
And we did it by once again being unfocused and totally undisciplined.
If we were to win out and go 10-2 and win the East at 7-1... that's great and all, but we would feel even worse about losing to Wyoming and Vandy because we would have been an eyelash from playing in the 4-team National Championship playoff.
When you have a set up like we had this year, you have to take better advantage of it.
