Matthew 1 starts off with the genealogy leading from Abraham to Jesus.
One of the major motivations for this is found in verse 17.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah,[h] fourteen generations.
These major events occurring every 14 generations are used to highlight a divine plan. Numerology exists in the Bible, certain numbers are held as signification. 7 being a symbol of perfection or the divine. What is 14? 7 times 2. The real point I am going to make though is this genealogy is wrong.
In verse 8 it says Joram is the father of Uzziah.
8 and Asaph[d] the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and
Joram the father of Uzziah
Joram is instead the great-great grandfather of Uzziah.
The actual lineage from Joram to Uzziah is as follows.
Joram - Ahaziah - Jehoash - Amaziah - Uzziah.
The list of the Kings of Judah can be found here.

Note on the list Athaliah is the Queen Mother of Ahaziah and was in place between the death of Ahaziah and his only surviving son Jehoash taking the throne.
Most plainly though this can be seen at 2 Chronicles 26:1
26 Then all the people of Judah took
Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king to succeed
his father Amaziah.
The Gospel of Matthew's genealogy of Jesus is wrong.
That also doesn't point out that Joseph is not Jesus' biological father according to scripture. Remember Mary was supposed to be a virgin. So that in itself is an issue tying Jesus into this genealogy.
Matthew 1:16
16 and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.[g]
