as much, if not more than his proven worth as a coach. I credit him for handling the chaos probably as well or better than anyone else who could have been hired, and would have been willing at the time. He restored calm, prevented a mass exodus of bitter players, and improved the team over time. These are no small feats. I'm grateful for the work he's done.
That said, the most troubling things are that he said he didn't see this coming, that they were unable to make in game adjustments with superior physical talent on the field, and the total breakdown in discipline. To me, that says lack of focus, and a sense of entitlement you haven't earned on the field.
The inability to correct these things at half time is all on him. You can't always be the friend, sometimes you have to be the boss, and give people notice there needs to be an immediate upgrade in performance or changes will be made.
Sterk should have delivered that message by this time. If a change is to be made, I would like to see Luke Fickell hired, and pay him whatever is necessary to turn our program into one with a dominant winning culture.
