year over year is 15, from 2007-08 to 2008-09.
See if this sounds familiar....
In 2005-06 a new coach was brought in to take over an absolutely cratered program. It was on probation, the roster was abysmal, and the fan support was nearly non-existent. He had a unique style of play that required selecting recruits that didn't fit the mold of most recruiting service evaluations and thus typically had underwhelming classes.
In year 1 however, he surprisingly finished 6 games over .500 and 6th place in conference mostly by changing the culture and style of play but was still fitting square pegs into round holes in terms of roster.
In year 2 unfortunately he took a big step backwards due to injuries and finished .500 overall and 10th in conference. The roster was about half his and half his predecessor's recruits.
Year 3 was pretty low in fanfare and expectations, but he kept insisting all offseason he now had the depth and type of players he needed for his system. We were picked 7th in the Big 12 preseason.
But we ended up setting the all time program mark for wins with 31, winning the Big 12 championship, and advancing to the Elite Eight in year 3.
