I think you’re overestimating how crazy boosters will go

Outside of a handful of players every year, teenage kids are a bad investment.
I think boosters are far more likely to spend their biggest money on players after they prove something, and there would still be plenty of quality recruits for a school like Mizzou (keeping in mind our boosters just fined about $100 million in stadium expansion for a football team that was not particularly good; we have money, too).
Very few players on either of our 30-win teams in recent years would’ve been offered anything substantial coming out of high school.
