General jackassery by Christians when their preconceived

ideas about scripture are shown to be lacking.

It never fails to become an attack.. even though like in this case I just pointed out an overlooked circumstance regarding the treatment of rapists..

The Bible, in my opinion, is the greatest collection of writings in human history. I reject the idea of it being inerrant, because there is so much evidence to the contrary.

BUT, there is something deeper than that which I wrestle with.

Tear the Bible into pieces and it can be seen that each part was relevant for when it was written. Compare one part to another (especially later written) and there are lots of contradictions. But the editor who put it together in the final form changed it all. As a whole it becomes complete and applicable millenia later.

If there is divine inspiration, that is where I believe it is found. Not the telling of Noah's Flood being thought of as a literal global flood, or the creation accounts being literal with a tree of life, a tree of knowledge of good and bad, etc.
