Proclamation did not apply to the few slaves held in bondage in Missouri. Missouri and Maryland were the border states that actually freed the slaves during the Civil War, albeit awfully late. The other border states...Delaware and Kentucky....waited until the war was over.
We didn’t wait for the 13th Amendment.
It would be a huge stretch to attempt to say that the African-American athletes who proudly represent Mizzou have any connection to those poor lost souls in 1865 other than by race. That would be like saying that my Caucasian ancestors were responsible for what the Confederate volunteers from Missouri did when they fought to secede. My family didn’t make it over until the 1870’s.
Your entire thought process is based on a causality that reeks of reparations, and I’m not about to agree to pay reparations in any form.
