Now to address issues. The process Matt described is accurate. Are there problems with academia, yes. Lots of people fudge data. It’s similar to what the government reports for job gains and other parameters. I personally believe many studies should not be published until they are replicated. People have based careers on fudged data. This is an issue, the bias you’re concerned about is a much lesser thing.
