a decade ago (not the fun kind). One driver was an old lady in her 70s. She sued myself and the other driver claiming that she had soft tissue injuries that put her at risk of premature arthritis.. in her 70s. She shows up at the deposition with all of us acting like she was in pain.
I looked her up on casenet and she had multiple accidents in the past couple years suing.
The insurance companies fought it all out assigning percentages of blame. She was the one with the least damage and only one who claimed injury.
Basically she got hit running a yellow by a car turning right.. then her car hit the front of mine as I'm coming the opposite direction towards the intersection.
Because I was on the phone, I was accused of distracted driving and that had I not been I would have avoided her being pushed into my lane and hitting her.
She got $28K settlement from my insurance. $57K from the other party.
That was just one of her lawsuits for accidents.
Her lawyer was a real scumball. His office where the deposition was held was locked at the front door. You had to buzz in. Then enter a mantrap area where the secretary was being glass and state your business and provide identification to get through a second set of doors into the waiting area of the law office.
It seriously looked like a criminal organization with safety precautions for other criminals coming in to collect.
