to fire someone. He has the ultimate power to do so so either he fired them or he did not. He may have wanted to but if he let his subordinates talk him out of it then he never actually attempted it.

And Mueller has testified multiple times that his investigation was NOT hindered.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
