The county assessor is incompetent and every TV interview shows her to be uncomfortable with the questions and her body language makes you think she's a liar.
The bulk of the increases in the poor parts of the city are at 14.9%. At 15% or greater the assessor has to perform site inspection assessments but at 14.9% they can go off video drivebys.
No mention of using MLS for comps.
The assessor is probably a political appointee. I can find no evidence it's an elected position. Just the KC good ol' boy system of putting unqualified incompetent people in postions.
