It's just remarkably stupid to have the mississippi river, lake pontchartrain, and the gulf within walking distance and still build a house below sea level.

Any money should go to put houses at least 20 ft above, preferably on stilts due to the flooding those three things can cause.

Nope, instead our govt let people stay in harm's way. It's like fixing a pedestrian hit by a car, and then putting them right back in the middle of the road again.
