the reason we have to spend twice the military spending of China Russia and Iran combined, is that our NATO allies don't spend enough.
Now we know NATO was formed to stop the USSR (not China)
but lets include Russia and Iran: that gives us 75 billion of their spending.
The NATO allies spend in excess of 285 billion (not including the US). Its more by another 5-20 billion because its not easy to look up about a dozen or so NATO members military spending.
Note: this does not include other US "allies"
such as Saudi Arabia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Australia and others who spend in excess of another 199 billion.
US and "allies" : 1 trillion 133 billion +
