just as easy to try and make up what you think happened, which is what journalists are apparently now trained to do.

this is a good case in point:
"the officer got physical"
"He didn't come in guns blazing for nothing"
"tried tackling a guy for writing a bad check"
"the shooting occurred after they wrestled around"

put in a few random twitter reactions plus a reference to a hot-button incident that is in no way related to this but will likely draw the ire of someone and you have yourself a bona-fide news story ready to hit the wires.
