The problem he has i think is that he lumps all religion in with the savagery and hypocrisy of islam. He said all religions plagiarize each other. OK.
He hates them all. He does not bother to distinguish between them.
But the church doctrines in christianity and judaism are not hate. Quite the contrary.
Many people say that we should not hate all "capricorns", only those whose actions deserve hate. Yet he freely lumps all religions in with islam and proclaims them all to be awful.
Why can he not acknowledge as i do, admittedly, that islam is a refuge for 12th century vermin imbued with savagery and ignorance and willing to kill those with whom they disagree....while christianity and judaism while perhaps anachronistic and irredeemably silly and without rational basis, are comforting to its practitioners and harmless to all others.
Seems simple enough.
Whether belief is deep seated or opportunistic in times of grief, it provides people with the will and the hope and the belief that they will be ok. And that in being ok, they needn't cut the heads off anyone who disagrees with them.
I freely admit that i am an anti islam bigot. I don't like or trust the muzz. I do that while acknowledging that there are many millions of decent, loving, law abiding muzz throughout the world. The problem in my opinion is that the preponderance of the muzz are 12th century tyrants indoctrinated into a cult that requires...it REQUIRES it does not merely suggest, recommend or consider ... violence against infidels.
Unlike the other two religions, islam in fact and practice, preaches hate.
Islam in my opinion is more a cult than a region. It is a geopolitical cult bent on world domination that used the fig leaf of religion and the protections guaranteed to religions, to attack from within the great democracies of the western world.
Christianity with all its flaws including pedophilia which is unforgivable, is made up of people who in my opinion and experience mean people no harm and to the contrary, offer love and peace to everyone. Of course many of the proponents of christianity are at best imperfect and at worst, hypocrites of the highest order. But they are not directed by their religion to be such. They are flawed scummy people who act on their own accord and who hide behind the good words of christianity....as opposed to flawed and crummy people who embrace the violent words and direction of the cult of islam to carry out violence IN THE NAME OF THEIR RELIGION.
And i say this not as a religious man. I believe in something although i do not know precisely what and could not define it or identify it if i saw it writ large across the pale blue sky of central virginia.
I just do not see why the jews and the christians deserve the wrath of religion hating sophisticates, who will pretend their hatred of western religion is OK since they say they hate the muzz as well.
And i offer for your consideration yet again, that unlike hitchens, most religion hating sophisticates save their contempt and vitriol for christianity first and judaism second. And as hitchens says very succinctly, those who defend the rights of islamists to preach hate while forbidding others from identifying and condemning islam as a hate group give the muzz the rod with which to beat them.
Hitchens is a deep thinker and is quite good. But his raskolian smugness is off putting as is his name dropping and condescension of everyone who is not him.
