That Mueller could not prove ENOUGH material evidence to support a criminal complaint tying Trump camp to "the Russian Govt" (quotes from Mueller report) does not mean the effort to do so was not there in those 187 contacts.
Russia has attacked and continues to attack the United States of America. But Trump's ego is so fragile that it is threatened by the idea that Russia's actions played a role in his one time outlier upset win.
Russia CONTINUES its attack on our country today and McConnell shuts down efforts to address that as does Trump. The nation is under attack and not only does the president do nothing to addresss it, he denies it.
