And a million people died because of it.
But once it started, it was real. And american intervention was necessary to end it.
In hindsight, viet nam was probably unnecessary but at the time, the communist threat in SE asia was a real and frightening thing. Was it unnecessary or just poorly fought?
I dunno but again in hindsight, i think we lost a lot of guys and didn't make a positive difference in the situation.
And it gave us dopes like john kerry.
The war against terrorism is necessary and it is unlike any war we have ever fought. We are not fighting a nation or a group of nations. We are fighting against an ideology that wants to destroy the western civilization and kill anyone who won't convert to the cult of islam. Not you of course. They like you.
And not being a military strategist, i don't know what exactly we are attempting to do but i know i'd rather fight them in Faluja then philadelphia. And to the extent that we disrupted their communications, their logistics and their armed forces, i say fine.
