the USA stopped expanding and stealing land by force of military. Most of America's history was taking land and its resources. The Natives, the Mexicans, the natives again, the Spanish. Ever since Vietnam, however, the USA has been losing these foreign adventures (I compare your Vietnam to Achamenid's Greco-Persian wars) so no more land expansion, however you have built up a vast network of military bases all over the world and use the dollar to wage economic wars on people that want to run a country different from you. Meanwhile you can prop up friendly dictators with this military might so they could set the price of oil appropriately for you, while their own people hate them for it. You overthrow (or try to overthrow) the leaders of countries who resist.... Libya and Iraq, and oil prices fall.
Talk to some folks in Karbala, and they will show you how dozens of countries are basically robbing their oil, literally stealing millions of barrels. Mostly the USA, but not anymore since their Iranian brothers have come to kick you colonialists out once and for all. I don't think you really get what happens in War, you bring death, destruction, and economic collapse to a nation of people for a generation or more. They hate you. I understand you have a pride problem, I get it, so do the people you keep fighting over and over.
