I like where you are going here in general, we aren’t getting much on offense from two highly rated recruits, Martin and Bailey. But Romaine and Nash have also underperformed at the bat based on what they are capable of.
Martin hit .225 as a freshman and raised that slightly to .244 this year. Is that all there is from a top 50 recruit? Same with Bailey, who is hitting just .191 in her first full season here. They are both solid fielders. And sure, even on the best teams there are a few good field/no hit type players. The question is, are there other girls who aren’t getting a chance but could hit much better given consistent opportunities and not have a significant drop off defensively?
I wouldn’t hit Nash lead off, not with her struggles this year. Wilmes is far and away our best hitter, and never strikes out, she needs the most at bats.
Don’t play Ellison, isn’t she in the transfer portal?
Moore is way too low in the lineup, she is one of our best hitters and makes solid contact almost all the time. She needs to be in the top 4-5 in the batting order, she has earned that.
I’d like to also see increased playing time for Decker, Torres, the Garrisons, George, and Raabe. With Nash and Romaine graduating, some of this will work it’s way out and several players are going to need to step up.
