After Lock was drafted one of the analyst's discussed how Flacco didn't like the Ravens taking Lamar Jackson last year, and has been outspoken about the Broncos not needing to draft a QB to compete for the starting position... Watching a couple of the videos of Elway talking about Lock linked below he kept saying 'compete for the back up spot' (he mentioned it 3 times that I saw) and made a point of Lock needing to learn a lot and that he had a great person to learn from. Feels like he's trying to assure Flacco. I even wonder about them taking Risner at 41, if they already knew they could get the 42nd pick, making a point of taking Lock 2nd to attempt to moderate the situation with Flacco.
Lock is a great kid, he's joining a team with an aging QB who has been statistically bad for several years now. Hopefully the guy puts his ego aside and helps Lock be successful. Denver has sucked at the QB position since they won their last Superbowl.
