She isn’t even remotely close to Danielle Williams in terms of talent. And never will be.
Won loss records can be deceiving.
I think Norman and Rice would be pretty close this year. I would take Norman over her, and maybe even Gasper, who has had some outstanding outings against really good team. Ohio St is using Rice very selectively, mostly against lesser teams. Their #1 pitcher is Ray. Rice typically gets hammered by the better teams, like Michigan last weekend where she took both losses, and has an awful strikeout to walk ratio of 36/35. She is not a dominating pitcher in any sense. Hitters are averaging .274 against her, as opposed to .171 against the ace Ray.
To me Rice is a bust an a ‘next great ace pitcher’, though not as bad as Parker Conrad. She is a serviceable #2 in a lesser conference, for a team that may or may not even make the NCAA tournament.
Good move for her though, going from the SEC to the B1G. She didn’t even finish in the top 40 in ERA in the SEC last year.
