Reading this article makes me think about bigger picture issues with college basketball.
First, large-scale transfers will change the way P5 schools recruit, especially those without a shoe pimp steering 5-star prospects to campus.
Why waste time with a 2- or 3- star freshman recruit? Why use a scholarship on him and wait while he develops to see if he pans out? Why not just let the mid-majors take the 2- star talent and then pick from the guys that turn out well?
The notable exception to this will likely be for height. You take chances on the Reid Nikkos and Mitchell Smiths because there just aren't enough really really tall guys to go around.
But why recruit a marginal guard out of high school when you can find guys who will be sophomores, juniors, seniors?
Which leads to the second issue: it's going to be a hell of a lot tougher for the smaller schools and mid majors to compete if the P5 schools are picking over their talent every spring.
