Because Jesus wasn’t a violent revolutionary who came to overthrow the Roman tyranny, which the Jewish leaders desired, some elected not to believe He was the real Messiah. Others such as Saul who became Paul transitioned from being a Christian killer into a believer. The early church was made up of Jews who came to believe. Why you may ask? Because the resurrection fundamentally turned these people around and has made Jesus the most written about discussed and studied person in human history. Everyone believes in something, To not believe is a belief. Some have more reason to believe than not to believe.
