here's the problem with the Manafort and Cohen charges.

not that they are great guys but WHY are they being investigated in the first place?

take Cohen for example, he's investigated b/c the dossier says he went to Prague in furtherance of a conspiracy to hack the dem's emails.

based on that dossier they got a warrant for his emails. this happened 9 months before the raid on his office.

does the dossier which was obviously not verified regarding Cohen establish probable cause to obtain a warrant for his emails? i mean a prosecutor and judge said yes, but does that make it so? at best it gives reasonable suspicion. no way that they should have been able to secure a warrant for his emails based on that.

does that seem legal? oh, I get that a judge signed off on it, but something that turned out to be completely false was the basis for securing a warrant on his emails which presumably led to the discovery of taxi medallion fraud/mortgage fraud etc.

maybe you don't think that's a big deal. but I do and this is what I do for a living. frankly, I don't know how it was possible to get a warrant for his emails based on unverified dossier information. I mean it's my experience that the warrant process is a bit of a rubber stamp in the first place but this goes beyond that imo.

I have a problem with law enforcement not doing their job properly even when it yields positive results b/c I believe that the integrity of the system, such that it is, is more important than any one conviction or investigation.
